The church was consecrated in 1903 and is the fifth church in Arvidsjaur.
Previously, many of Arvidsjaur’s churches were located near the roundabout by the E45, but since the land was full of stones and surrounded by marshes, it was difficult to cultivate the land, which led to the choice of the current location for the new church. It was also closer to where the residents lived due to the poor soil.
